The Commodore Ballroom was packed, and not only with people in cowboy hats and checked shirts. Alberta native Corb Lund also draws fans from the alternative and punk community. The last time I saw him his was playing bass for his metal/hardcore punk band The Smalls. This time he paid tribute to those roots by sporting an SNFU sticker on his black Gretsch guitar.
Corb Lund and the Hurtin’ Albertans serve up authentic straight-ahead country, and the two night stand in Vancouver is testament to their popularity and success. I even met a group of people who traveled all the way from Alaska for the concert.
The only challenged I faced photographing this concert was that Corb was wearing a black bandana for the first handful of songs. Sorry, no closeups of his smiling face this time!
