English post-punk band And Also the Trees celebrate their 40th anniversary in 2020, but for 2019 they’ve been relatively quiet. Their only live show of the year, in fact, was in celebration of yet another anniversary, the 25th year of French fanzine Twice. Since it’s been some time since the band’s most recent release, 2016’s Born Into Waves, they played a career spanning set ranging from their earliest single “Shantell” and covering some of their biggest songs from over the years including “Slow Pulse Boy,” “Virus Meadow,” “Gone… Like the Swallows,” and “A Room Lives In Lucy.”
The show was opened by English dark prog band Antimatter, touring on their seventh album Black Market Enlightenment, and French coldwave band Collection d’Arnell-Andrea, who released their latest record, Another Winter, earlier this year.
