Bahamas + John K Samson @ McPherson Playhouse – November 12th 2015

The McPherson Playhouse had been sold out for months, bidding wars for tickets were happening on Craigslist
Fans were lined up outside the theatre looking for tickets when I arrived. Bahamas are back in Victoria.
The night opened with former lead singer and songwriter for the Weakerthans, John K. Samson,
who delivered a solid set.
I was fortunate to catch Bahamas in Oct 2014 when they performed at The Alix Goolden Hall here in Victoria. This was one of the best shows I attended all last year. As intimate as that previous venue was, I think the 770+ seat McPherson was a way better fit for Bahamas.
Afie Jurvanen is the man behind Bahamas, his interaction with the crowd is so laid-back and a pleasure to experience. It felt like they were playing to friends their own living room. With their stage presence and audience engagement, it’s apparent why Bahamas won two JUNO Awards this year.
I’m hoping Bahamas comes back to play Victoria again soon.
