American country music singer and songwriter Camaron Marvel Ochs, better known as CAM, brought her ‘Best Coast’ tour through Vancouver.
Since her breakthrough year in 2016, where she was nominated for a Grammy for her song “Burning House“, she has been making further waves with her songs “Mayday” and “Diane“.
Opening the show was Nashville DJ DYRTYBYRD, who brought a fun start to the night.
The crowd at the Commodore Ballroom, although small in number was huge in energy. When CAM delved into her first song, the audience sang along. It shocked her to the point that she started giggling and stopped singing for a few lyrics. It was a humanizing moment that really amplified the intimacy of the performance.
I was thoroughly impressed with her vocal prowess. Her voice pierced my soul. That may sound corny but it is completely true. At moments in her set I could feel her lyrics sending shivers down my spine. It was a wonderful experience.
Although I don’t spend a lot of time in the country circuit, I do know what I love when it comes to music, and I love CAM. Her sound, her poetics, her demeanour; it’s all very intriguing.
I hope to see and hear more about her in the future. She deserves big things in her career.
