Saturday remained sunny, breezy, and damn near perfect for catching all the bands at Day 2 of the Shaky Knees Music Festival. After recovering from the opening day performances and a host of late night club shows that kept the party going into the wee hours, fans descended on Centennial Olympic Park and International Plaza in even greater numbers than Friday. With the larger crowds, the walking bridge that connected the staging area in Centennial Olympic Park with International Plaza became a bit of a choke point as fans often shifted between performances throughout the day. However, Shaky Knees staff quickly responded to the logistical issue and opened gates between the two areas, escorting people across the road and easing the log jam. The fans were able to keep moving, and the performances kept coming!
Some of the highlights for day 2 included, a great set on the Peachtree Stage by the always powerful Strand of Oaks, Day Wave delivering the goods, a storming set of “banjo punk” from the Swedish female trio Baskery that drew Jim James to the side of the stage to catch the show, Huey Lewis And The News performing their classic album Sports, and a thundering headlining set from My Morning Jacket… And soo much more!
