John Harrison, the creative force behind the ever-evolving Jphono1 has been on a bit of a creative hot-streak. Joined by his frequent collaborators Jimmy Thompson on bass and John Crouch on drums/percussion, Harrison has recently released Rectify Mercy, his fourth Jphono1 record in the span of two years. Rectify Mercy is the follow-up to 2021’s Parliament and it shares a similar sonic canvas, splashed with atmospheric guitar, airy harmonies, and hypnotic psych-rock.
After having come off a short run of shows supporting The Connells, and enduring a winter weather postponement, Jphono1 was finally able to hit the stage and celebrate with a hometown Carrboro crowd at the Rectify Mercy album release party this past Saturday night at the Cat’s Cradle Back Room.
Rectify Mercy is yet another gem from the vast Jphono1 mine. It’s a personal favorite and worth seeking out. You can check out some photos from the release party below.
