Kongero played for the Hamilton World Music Festival fundraiser at The Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts this past weekend. Kongero is one of Sweden’s leading a cappella vocal groups, singing traditional and folk music in unique arrangements. The group consists of four skilled singers Lotta Andersson, Emma Björling, Anna Wikenius and Malin Thunell.
With amazing harmonies, these ladies performed a selection of traditional folk songs, original compositions of mixed medieval ballads and love songs to a very enthusiastic crowd. As most of the songs were in Swedish, a story behind each song was explained to the audience first. Their music, along with the acoustics of this building, reminded many in the audience of the soundtracks from Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones.
