It was a packed house on a rainy and cold night in Toronto. The Danforth Music hall in all its retro glory was the perfect setting to for this band as they unleashed funky vibes throughout the night. The band’s outfit and stage design were notable as the lead singer Yukimi Nagano was wearing a veil over her face with a dress covered in large polka dots as she entered onto the stage backed with multiple mirrors hanging on strings giving off an essence of a late 80’s disco club. Their current tour has been for the recent release of their fifth studio album Season High, which dropped on the 14th of April. They opened their set with the Intro song to Season High “Celebrate” which can only be defined as a fusion of Japanese folk with its backing vocals and synth-pop with its melodies and lead vocal track. Little Dragon has recently collaborated with notable artists like Odesza in 2015 on a single for their second studio album, In Return on a song called “Lights” and with Canadian Producer Kaytranada on his First Studio Album 99.9% on the final track of the album called “Bullets”. If you are into groovy synth music inspired by 80’s disco Little Dragon is a definitely a band you need to check out. That Facebook ID is unauthorized for use, please go to Settings and add it.
