Lucy Dacus + And The Kids @ The Biltmore Cabaret – March 27th 2018

Lucy Dacus performing at The Biltmore Cabaret in Vancouver, BC on March 27th 2018

I showed up to the show just as the first opener, Adult Mom, were playing their last song.

They sounded great, but I can’t really say much off one song.

Next up were Northampton-based indie pop-rockers And The Kids. I really enjoy their set. It was fun and moody, and the inter-song banter was funny. They were missing their keyboardist, Megan Miller, due to “deportation issues”, but they still killed it.

Great set, I hope to see them back in Vancouver again soon.

Closing the show was American indie rock singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus, out touring behind her sophomore album Historian.

Her set was personal and vulnerable and delicate but still somehow powerful. The young rising-star has a haunting vocal style that leaves you captivated to hear her beautiful story-driven lyrics. She seemed shy on stage, which just made it feel more intimate.

I officially love her music. Like, at first I thought I just liked it, but after seeing her live, I have fallen in love with it. It’s graceful, impassioned musical poetry for the discerning listener.

Last night was special. If you missed it, sorry.

Thank you to Timbre Concerts for having us out.
