Full review of Parquet Courts @ The Vogue Theatre – August 27th 2016

The Parquet Courts are an indie rock band from New York City. Their sound, especially on the quieter songs, reminds me of Pavement, but they are also clearly influenced by earlier bands such as Television and Velvet Underground. They’ve only been around for a little over 5 years, but are already picking up a large following and much critical acclaim.

This Vancouver audience needed a little coaxing, but as soon as the tempo picked up the crowd began moshing, crowd-surfing, and stage-diving. It would seem that the security at the Vogue Theatre were instructed to let the fans have fun, as there was not attempt to stop people climbing onto the stage. But at one point the band had to remind them not to hand around too long “looking like nerds” before jumping back into the pit!
