Singer-songwriter and sometime actor Chris Isaak is a true performer. With a career spanning more than three decades, Isaak has released 12 studio albums, and toured the globe playing to massive crowds. His music has received critical acclaim and multiple award nominations. He has also found time to act in several movies, work on multiple soundtracks, and even star in his own television show. Despite being in his sixties, and well deserving of a nice quiet retirement, Chris has continued to tour. In fact, he has spent this summer on a co-headlining tour with Lyle Lovett. Throughout the tour, he has found time to venture out and play several shows on his own. We caught him on one those solo headlining gigs this past Wednesday, August 10th, at the Carolina Theatre in Durham NC.
Isaak is a consummate showman… a talented performer and engaging entertainer. His show at the Carolina Theatre, backed by his long-time band was a testament to his enduring ability to win over a crowd. Despite the years, his voice was as pure and powerful as ever. He took the stage in one of his iconic shiny sequined suits and launched into a set that pulled from across his vast catalog and mixed in a few inspired covers as well. It was a captivating performance that exceeded expectations.
