Photo Gallery: Crowded House + Liam Finn @ Carolina Theatre – May 17th 2023

Earlier this month, Crowded House embarked on their aptly titled “Dreamers Are Waiting” tour of North America. Having been postponed from last year due to drummer Elroy Finn suffering a back injury, fans have been waiting for the chance to see Crowded House on stage playing their classic hits as well as new songs from their seventh album, 2021’s Dreamers Are Waiting, their first in 11 years.

While Concert Addicts caught the opening night of the tour in Vancouver (coverage is HERE), We also made it out to the show at the Carolina Theatre in Durham NC this past Wednesday night.  The band were still firing on all cylinders, but the Carolina crowd got treated to an extra helping of new material, with 4 brand new songs and the tour debut of “Too Good for This World” from Dreamers Are Waiting.  Despite the miles, original members Neil Finn (vocals, guitar, piano) and Bassist Nick Seymour have not lost a step.  They sounded every bit as earnest and vital as they did back in the 80’s.  

The show opened with a solo set from Liam Finn, who would also play guitar later in the evening with Crowded House.  His freewheeling set that incorporated loops and backing effects behind Liam alternating between playing guitar and drums was both engaging and exhilarating.
