American singer and songwriter Nathaniel Rateliff and his ban the Night Sweats, with the help of opening L.A.-based five-piece indie rock outfit Mt. Joy, had the sun soaked crowd at the PNE Amphitheatre in Vancouver, BC swaying to and fro the their respective sounds.
Mt. Joy kicked things off, bringing an emotionally charged set with explosions of inter-band interplay and captivating nuance. I was caught by surprise and left staring in awe as they pulled me in and left with an appetite for more.
Mr. Rateliff and his team carried that torch.
A soulful display of well-oiled, top tier musicians perfectly orchestrating a run of songs to keep your toes tapping, head weaving, and your goosebumps extra goosebumpy.
This was my third time seeing this group and man oh man do they keep getting better and better.
I wish they were playing here again tonight so I could bask in their sound one more time under the sweet summer sky.
