Swedish Post-Punk band Viagra Boys performed to a sold out show at the Commodore Ballroom on Thursday, March 2nd in promotion of the Cave World Tour. Having had to cancel their previous show on the tour due to weather problems, they were ready to get to work. Judging from the audiences reactions throughout the show, you could tell that Vancouver was waiting for some escape from the past three years with a big blow out of live music and fun and just letting go.

Performing previously at the Fox Theatre and then Rickshaw and now the Commodore Ballroom (selling out), it’s clear they have a solid fan base and from talking with several audience members it will keep growing.

Vocalist Sebastian Murphy’s signature shirtless tattooed body. shades and Adidas track pants, was utterly captivating. Romping across the stage with beer in hand, spitting it out onto himself and heading out off the stage to engage with the audience in the pit had him maintain the focal point of the bands set. But with a mixture of the other band members providing a solid backdrop of visuals from Elias Jungqvist’s keyboards, androgynous saxophone/guitars of

Oscar Carls and bassist Henrik Höckert, drummer Tor Sjödéns and guitarist Linus Hillborg.

A great time was had by all, and I can see them doing two shows the next time they hit town.
