Simon Bonney is best known for his time as the frontman of Crime and the City Solution, but during the mid-90s he had an all-too-brief, two album solo career before disappearing for nearly two decades. In 2013, Crime and the City Solution re-emerged briefly for a new album titled American Twilight, but after that faded away again as quickly as they came. Now Bonney is back with a new compilation album on Mute Records titled Past, Present, Future, featuring tracks from those two solo albums as well as some from a third, unreleased record called Eyes of Blue which he recorded (and shelved) in the late 90s.
He’s also promising that new music is around the corner, but in the meantime he’s currently on tour along with his wife Bronwyn opening for Mark Lanegan. The tour made a stop at the Ottobar in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday night.
