English rock band The Who performing at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC on October 21st, 2019. The show was opened by Manchester native singer Liam Gallagher of infamous nineties rock band Oasis.
What a wonderful night of music,
Liam started things off by performing his set mostly in the dark, allowing the attendees to take in his music without too many visual obstacles.
The Who came out and delivered a celebratory set, the first and last thirds of the set the band was accompanied by an orchestra, while the middle third saw the band play on their own.
Singer Roger Daltrey sounded terrific, showing a solid range that seemed unaffected by his age. He looked like a kid on that stage dancing around, hopping on one leg, and spinning his microphone by its cable.
Pete Townsend was stoic. He lost himself in the guitar, closing his eyes and letting his fingers roam effortlessly on the frets, periodically breaking free to swing his arm in his patented windmill swing we all know so well.
Mid-way through the headlining set American singer Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam joined The Who on stage to join them in performing ” The Punk and the Godfather”.

I left the venue completely flabbergasted.
I had never seen The Who perform live and it tickled my brain something fierce. They have matured into something deeper and more polished than they once were. They haven’t lost their edge, they have only grown sharper.
Thank you to the artists and their teams for a spectacular night out. Don’t be strangers, come back soon, and come back often.
