The Screaming Eagle of Soul, Charles Bradley

Charles Bradley Diagnosed With Cancer

A few short hours ago, a message was posted on the official Facebook page for Mr. Charles Bradley.

The text of the post reads as follows:

October 4, 2016
For Immediate Release

Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires have spent the majority of 2016 on the road in support of Bradley’s latest album — Changes. They have had to cancel several shows recently due to health concerns and now, we regret to announce that Charles’ doctors have discovered a cancerous tumor in his stomach. Upcoming tour dates will be canceled, as he needs to take time off for treatment and recovery.

The 67-year old soul singer has always been a fighter and is determined to come back stronger and with even more love to give.
Statement From Charles Bradley —

“In the past few months, I have had to cancel a number of shows due to illness, taking me away from my beautiful fans.
My doctors recently discovered a cancerous tumor in my stomach.

I’m getting the best medical care and we are all extremely optimistic. I will fight through this like I’ve fought through the many other obstacles in my life.

My upcoming tour dates will be postponed so I can concentrate on healing.

Thank you all for understanding. Music is how I share my love with the world, and the love that my fans have given back brings me so much joy. I look forward to seeing your gorgeous faces soon, and to continue to share my love through music.”

This announcement has brought a cloud of sadness to the music industry. Mr. Bradley is one of the most stirring r&b singers around.

Over the years we have covered him multiple times, but seeing him live never lost any of its magic. He was always completely enthralling and captivating.

If you have never taken the time to watch the documentary Soul Of America, then use this as an opportunity to do that right now. It follows the extraordinary journey of the singer during the electrifying and transformative months leading up to the release of his debut album No Time for Dreaming back in 2011.

We wish Charles Bradley all the luck and strength and support in his battle with the big C.

I know it isn’t a harsh stance by any means but, FUCK CANCER!

We are all hoping for a speedy recovery, the world needs more like Charles Bradley.
