Polyphia Announces Fifth Album “Be Not Afraid”

Polyphia has announced its fifth studio album, Be Not Afraid, arriving October 23rd through Rise Records.

The Texas instrumental rock innovators are introducing the record with “Power In The Blood,” a new single accompanied by a visually striking music video filmed in Rio de Janeiro.

Directed by Caleb Young, the video places Tim Henson, Scott LePage, Clay Gober and Clay Aeschliman inside the São Francisco da Penitência Church. The band performs against the church’s ornate Baroque architecture and gold-leaf details, creating a dramatic setting for the album’s collision of beauty, darkness and religious imagery.

Polyphia recorded Be Not Afraid between Miami, Los Angeles and Dallas throughout 2024 and 2025. The group worked alongside co-producer RJ Pasin and guitarist Spiro Dussias.

The writing process differed considerably from previous Polyphia albums. Rather than developing ideas separately before bringing them into the studio, the musicians concentrated on building songs together in the same room.

Henson also changed his approach to writing guitar parts. He began by singing melodic lines aloud before translating them onto the instrument, allowing the other members to respond and expand upon those ideas in real time.

“Instead of going wide on Be Not Afraid, we went as deep as we could,” Henson explained. “There are so many layers to pull back. Every time you listen to it, you’ll notice something new.”

LePage described the collaborative sessions as some of the most enjoyable writing experiences in the band’s history. That sense of fun became part of what Polyphia ultimately captured on the recording.

Sonically, Be Not Afraid combines otherworldly metal, progressive rock and pulsating house music with carefully selected samples, inventive beats and the highly technical guitar playing for which Henson and LePage are known.

The record moves between two dramatic extremes. Some passages are intended to feel uplifting and triumphant, while others enter considerably darker and more disturbing territory.

“There are moments on the record that legitimately scare me when I listen to them,” Henson said.

The album’s title reflects the band’s response to the ugliness and powerlessness its members encountered while researching disturbing subjects during the writing process. Instead of becoming paralyzed by what they found, Polyphia poured that energy into creating something beautiful without worrying whether listeners would immediately understand it.

The band previewed this new era earlier in 2026 with “Can You Feel It,” its first single in more than four years. The song pushed Polyphia’s hybrid sound further into dance music while retaining the group’s metallic force and instrumental precision.

Completing the album required more time than originally anticipated, leading Polyphia to postpone the North American portion of its world tour until early 2027. Previously purchased tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled performances.

RJ Pasin will support every date on the world tour. Perturbator will join the European and United Kingdom run this November and December, while Ladrones will appear throughout North America. Intervals will also join the Toronto and Montreal performances.

Be Not Afraid arrives October 23rd through Rise Records.
