The National Surprise Fans With Two New Songs

The National, a renowned alternative rock band, has pleasantly surprised their fans with the release of two new songs, coinciding with their upcoming headline performance at Madison Square Garden in NYC and an upcoming show at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage. The first track, titled “Alphabet City,” carries an emotive undertone as it laments the persistent feeling of being unable to move on, with lyrics expressing, “I’m not over it…I can’t get there.” On the other hand, “Space Invader,” the second song, takes a different direction, spanning seven minutes and displaying a vigorous and ambitious sound.

The National’s continuous exploration of experimental and expansive musical territories is evident in both of these new songs. Despite having achieved commercial success, the band still maintains their dedication to pushing the boundaries of alternative music. These new releases, following their 9th album titled ‘First Two Pages of Frankenstein’ released in April, underscore The National’s enduring creativity and ability to captivate audiences with their unique sonic offerings.
