Are You Going to See The Black Keys?

For those of you out there that were able to score some tickets, Monday night will be an epic show. With the backdrop that is Deer Lake Park, you will be treated to two amazing acts; The Black Keys and Cage The Elephant. If you haven’t been stuck under a rock, or hiding in cave somewhere for the last few years, both these groups have been growing exponentially. The greatest part they are completely opposite when it comes to many aspects, sound, style, energy, and especially performance style. The two groups exist on opposite ends of the spectrum

The Black Keys bring a lofi contribution to blues resurrection. Their songs are dirty and passionate and to me are a front runner for some of the slickest, sexiest pieces of the day. Don’t take my word for it check out this video for The Breaks.

Now take Cage The Elephant, their first album was great, but barely captured their presence and attitude. Having had the pleasure of seeing them open for the Silversun Pickups twice, a few years ago, I can honestly say I was blown away. The lead singer, Matthew Shultz, is a man possessed. This band is one that cannot be summarized by their recordings, you have to see them live. They are a tribute from the soul of grunge, they are the new scene. Check out this video for Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked:

So if you are one of the lucky ones, like myself, heading out to see the bands play on Monday at Deer Lake Park, get ready for the time of your life. For more information check out The Black Keys with Cage The Elephant event page.
