Neil Fallon and the rest of the American rock band Clutch brought their Book Of Bad Decisions Tour to the fabulous Commodore Ballroom on Monday night. They served up a captivating and invigorated set that had the masses emphatically pumping their fists and enthusiastically singing along. Fallon is a powerful band lead that throws himself wholeheartedly into every set. They may come through town every year but it is always worth making the trek out to see them.
Opening the night was the Atlanta-bred alternative metal band Sevendust, lead by Lajon Witherspoon. It has been a long while since they have been through Vancouver, and their opening slot set was nothing short of fantastic. They were cohesive and aggressive and incredibly fun to watch. I really hope they come back soon and perform a headlining set, the world needs more Sevendust.
Warming the stage up in the first opening slot was Nashville blue rockers Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown. They were visceral. Everything they did on stage came from the bottom of their souls and poured out onto the crowd. Band lead, Mr. Bryant, is a powerhouse on the guitar and completely lost himself in the performance. The sound was crunchy and fuzzy and things got sweaty. I have been a fan for a few years now, but now that I have finally broken the seal and seen them live, I am craving to see them now more than ever.
What a night!
If you missed out on tickets, you really missed out on a stellar triple bill.
