Collective Soul + The Static Shift @ Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium – June 25th 2018

It was a sold-out show Monday night at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium for Collective Soul. The evening started out with opening band, The Static Shift, out of Calgary, Alberta. The band is made up of Mitchell Brady, (Guitar/Vocals), Keone Friesen, (Bass/ Harmonica), and Isaiah Stonehouse, (Drums/Background Vocals). They were 1 of 6 artists/bands chosen to be launched on CTV’s new television series – The Launch earlier this year. Since then, The Static Shift, have gone on to record new albums and share the stage with some pretty big names. Their music is described as a mixture of classic rock and blues with a sprinkling of alternative, indie and psychedelic rock. Their set was pretty amazing. You could tell they were having a fantastic time on the big stage and were very grateful to be living their dream. Check them out online as their music is definitely worth exploring further. They will be joining Collective Soul for the western Canadian leg of their tour.

Headliner Collective Soul was next up out of Atlanta, Georgia. Their frontman, Ed Roland, always brings huge energy to every show. It was a great night of nostalgia listening to some Collective Soul classics along with brand new material woven into the set list. Ed let the audience know they were very excited and somewhat nervous to be back out on tour. At one point during the show, when Ed was getting his guitar tuned, he told everyone that he wanted to take another  crack at a new song they had done earlier in the set, Over Me. The crowd sang along to The World I Know with the band and their voices filled the theatre . 

 For their last song, Run. The band slowed it right down coming out to the crowd to share high fives. It was an amazing end to the evening.
