Live Review: John Mayer + Alec Benjamin @ Rogers Arena, Vancouver – April 10th 2023

John Mayer’s concert at Rogers Arena in Vancouver on April 10th, 2023 was a night to remember. The audience was a diverse group of people, of all ages and backgrounds, who were eagerly waiting for the artist to take the stage. The night began with Alec Benjamin, the opening act, who impressed the crowd with his sweet and humble demeanor and serene voice.

Alec Benjamin is a rising star in the music industry, known for his soulful and introspective songwriting. Born and raised in Arizona, Benjamin started writing songs at a young age and has since garnered a dedicated following of fans from around the world. The arena was almost sold out, and the energy in the air was electric. It was incredible to see how John Mayer could keep thousands of people entertained on his own, with just himself, his vocals and his instruments. The setlist for the night included some of his most beloved tracks, such as “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room,” “Shot in the Dark,” and “XO,” his stunning cover of Beyonce’s hit. He also performed “Who Says,” “Clarity,” and “Half of My Heart,” among others.

John Mayer’s piano performances of “New Light,” “You’re Gonna Live Forever in Me,” and “Changing” were breathtaking. He then returned to the acoustic guitar for “Stop This Train,” “Waitin’ on the Day,” “Your Body Is a Wonderland,” and “Walt Grace’s Submarine Test, January 1967,” with a snippet of “Release” by Pearl Jam. His double-neck acoustic guitar was also a key highlight during “A Face to Call Home,” “If I Ever Get Around to Living,” and “Edge of Desire.”

The night concluded with an encore featuring “Shouldn’t Matter but It Does” with a snippet of “Forever Young,” and his stunning cover of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’.”

Overall, John Mayer’s concert was a remarkable display of talent, skill, and passion. The audience was thrilled with every moment, leaving the arena feeling invigorated and moved. It was a night that won’t be forgotten anytime soon, and Vancouver eagerly awaits his next visit.

  1. Yes it was a fantastic show! This is his 3rd concert I’ve seen in Vancouver and he just gets better and better, reaching really high notes this set.
