Live Review: Snoop Dogg + Wiz Khalifa + Too $hort + Warren G + Berner + DJ Drama @ Rogers Arena, Vancouver – July 7th 2023

As the sun began to set over Rogers Arena, anticipation filled the air for a night of hip hop legends. The crowd eagerly awaited the arrival of the main event, Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa, but before they took the stage, the night was set in motion by a lineup of talented opening artists. DJ Drama, Warren G, and Too $hort each brought their unique flavor to the stage, setting the perfect tone for an unforgettable evening.

The night started with an energetic performance by DJ Drama, who played popular hip hop songs that kept the crowd pumped up. He maintained the energy all night with seamless transitions and captivating music, ensuring that there were no dull moments. The entire arena was swaying to the beats.

The next performer to take the stage was rapper Berner, who captivated the audience with his powerful presence and dynamic performance. His set served as a catalyst, inspiring everyone to get up and join in on the hip hop extravaganza that unfolded throughout the night. Berner’s infectious energy and engaging stage presence left a lasting impression, fully immersing the audience in the captivating experience that awaited them.

Warren G was the next performer to take the stage. His set was a journey down memory lane, playing all the hits you could want, culminating in the crowd favorite, “Regulate.” The moment the first chords of that classic hit reverberated through the arena, the entire crowd erupted in excitement. Warren G’s set may have been short, but it was tightly packed with nostalgia, reminding us why his silky flow has stood the test of time.

Too $hort was the next artist to take over the stage. This was my first time seeing him live, and I was immediately impressed by his crowd interaction and captivating performance. He delivered an electrifying set, performing hits like “Blow Job Betty” and “Cocktails,” which brought back a wave of nostalgia. Too $hort solidified his status as hip hop royalty, leaving the throng in awe of his presence. Everyone eagerly sang along and relished every moment of his set.

Now, onto the main artists of the night—Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg. Wiz Khalifa took the stage first, and it was clear from the moment he appeared that he was there to have a good time. Throughout his set, Wiz indulged in several joints, exuding a relaxed and jovial demeanor. His stage setup was a sight to behold, brightly lit with intense colors and video screens accompanying each song. Wiz Khalifa’s infectious energy was palpable, and his interactive nature with the audience kept everyone engaged and connected.

The moment everyone was waiting for finally arrived as Snoop Dogg, the headliner of the evening, took to the stage. The music-loving masses were ecstatic, and Snoop did not disappoint as he delivered unforgettable renditions of his timeless hits. In a touching tribute to the legends that paved the way for him, he gave a sincere shoutout to Notorious B.I.G and Tupac, performing one of each of their songs each. Snoop’s time on the stage transformed the night into a lively dance party, with the audience hanging on his every word. Despite his relaxed stage presence, he managed to captivate the crowd effortlessly and keep their energy levels high.

And to add an extra layer of excitement, Snoop had two pole dancers, positioned on opposite corners of the stage. These mesmerizing performers, exuding grace and skill, added an enticing element to the already electric ambiance. Their captivating routines, synchronized with the rhythm of the music, further elevated the energy of the night. With their attractive presence and dynamic moves, the pole dancers enhanced the overall spectacle, leaving the crowd in awe and adding an unforgettable dimension to Snoop Dogg’s captivating performance.

But the surprises weren’t over yet. Towards the end of the night, Wiz Khalifa joined Snoop on stage, igniting the arena with their undeniable chemistry. Together, they delivered a memorable collaboration, performing crowd favorites like “Jump Around” (a House of Pain cover), “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” and “Young, Wild & Free.” The energy in the arena was off the charts as the two hip hop icons fed off each other’s presence.

As the night drew to a close, a touching slideshow appeared on the screens, paying tribute to hip hop artists we’ve lost in recent years, including Nipsey Hussle, Mac Miller, and Takeoff. It was a poignant reminder of the impact and legacy of these incredible musicians.

In conclusion, the Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa concert at Rogers Arena was a night to remember. From the infectious beats of DJ Drama to the nostalgic hits of Warren G and Too $hort, each opening artist set the stage for an epic evening.
