American actor and musician Noah Cyrus brought her “Good Cry” tour to Venue nightclub in Vancouver last night.

Opening the show was Mississippi-born singer Maty Noyes.

She kicked things off with an energetic performance, showcasing her voice and her ability to get the party started. The venue quickly became a dance party. Noyes worked back and forth on the small stage, further stirring up the attendees. A good portion of the people were singing along, with the biggest participation coming during “Porn Star” and “Say It to My Face”.

Noyes was a pleasure to watch perform. She know her audience and is able to manifest and excitement inside of them.

Keep your eyes on this one, she has a bright future in front of her.

After a rejigging of the stage setup, Ms. Cyrus stepped up to the platform with her two-piece backing band taking place behind her.

The crowd roared back to life as enthusiastic screams filled the house.

Noah thanks everyone for coming out and then dove headfirst into her set.

The young musician had a commanding presence in that tiny little performance space. She danced and bounced and jumped all around, her energy spilled over to the audience. Dozens of eager hands stretched forward trying to reach her, she knelt down and clutched them as she sang the title track of her debut album Good Cry as her opening track.

A fan near the front could be seen crying as she looked up towards the singer. This was no pretty cry, this was sheer emotion overcoming her, it was one of those ugly cries that comes from the bottom of your soul. I guess you could say she was having a, wait for it, Good Cry….YEAHHHHH!!!!

Cyrus showcased her vocal prowess, her voice resonated through the venue and tickled the hairs on the back of my neck. The control in her delivery was wonderful to witness. She had impact in those soft tones and shook the rafters at those peaks.

Her set was wrought with emotion, some happy and some sad, it poured from her like a fountain.

This lady may be new to touring but she looked like an old pro up there. It seemed natural for her but at the same time you could see her working incredibly hard for her fans.

The two jewels of the night were in her song “Topanga” and a cover of Hozier’s “Take Me To Church”, both were just beautifully delivered.

I wasn’t sure what to think when I first walked into the show.

Would Noah Cyrus be some wanna-be musician riding the tails of her famous family members or would she be a unique and intriguing musician that stood apart from the masses of other performers in the world. Well, I can tell you with absolute certainty, she is the latter. Regardless of where she came from, she is here, in the now, delivering personal and passionate performances from the bottom of her complicated heart.

I would like to thank Ms. Cyrus and Ms. Noyes and their teams.

This was a fantastic night out and I hope to see them in town again very soon.
