NonPoint + Otherwise @ The Rockpile – May 6th 2015

Nonpoint is a heavy metal band from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The band consists of vocalist Elias Soriano, drummer Robb Rivera, guitarists Rasheed Thomas and B.C. Kochmit, and bassist Adam Woloszyn.

I have to say I am a little bias regarding this band, they have been consistent since 1997 with the launch of “Seperate Yourself- The Beginning launching in 1998.

This band blew the roof off of the Rockpile Nightclub in Toronto as if they are still teenagers.

The chemistry between the band and the audience is something you could never understand unless you have been to a NonPoint live show. I could tell that they are older with some pauses between sets and the amount of sweat dripping down.

With that being said this band played well over an hour to a diverse crowd young and old, they came together to just watch a legendary band pick up where they left off in 2010.

“The Return” is their new release which is getting much attention as of late. This is their 8th LP and is just as raw and head banging as the last 7.

You can tell they have grown with this album to keep up with the times and they are enjoying every minute of it, This is a solid band that knows eachother as family and it shows with every look they give, no words are spoken while on stage but they know exactly what is being said.

I had the pleasure of photographing Otherwise their first time in Toronto, while on tour with Nonpoint.

The Las Vegas hard alternative rock quintet—Adrian Patrick [vocals], Ryan Patrick [guitar/vocals], Corky Gainsford [drums/vocals], & Andrew Pugh [guitar/vocals]
Their first album “True Love never Dies” is a bit heavier and darker then this new release ” Peace at all Costs”.

The band went with Canadian producer David Bottrill on this release who has an incredible reputation and has produced a multitude of great bands. including Skillet, Tool, Staind, Dream Theatre and the list goes on. His mark has been left on this album also.

It was a pleasure to see David Bottrill was also at the Rockpile and you could hear the gratitude when the band was thanking him for all he has done for them.

The Rockpile has upgraded their lighting show, this venue is stepping up their game for the best visual and sound experience for all. it is a modest venue with a convention centre attitude taking care of all the small details that one would not expect.

They put on a great stage show I was pleasantly surprised with the energy they put forth for their hour long set.

Otherwise has been added to Rock on the Range festival, this is just a few of their stops.

I am telling you now Otherwise is not a band you want to sleep on! Wake up and get this new album Peace at all Costs
You will not be disappointed.
