Live Review: Yungblud + Missio @ The Vogue Theatre, Vancouver – September 11th 2019

English musician Yungblue, aka Dominic Richard Harrison , performing at The Vogue Theatre in Vancouver, BC with opening band Missio.

I missed out on seeing Yungblud performing at a small venue called the Fox Cabaret last September. Since then, I have been waiting for his return.

This show at The Vogue did not disappoint.

Missio started things off with a dancey set that was strewn with dark eerie lights and inter-song monologues with a theme of positivity. I wasn’t sure who they were before they took the stage but the damn sure got my attention.

Yungblud came out to an eager crowd full of screaming young fans.

Dominic was intense. Jumping around the stage as soon as the lights showed his face. His big happy grin splayed out for all to see.

I was really impressed with his energy. I mean he just didn’t seem to slow down for several songs. Ping-ponging back and forth from each end of the platform, stopping only to grab the outstretched hands of his fans momentarily and sing right in their face.

The entire band was having a blast, which quickly filtered out to that eager crowd and created a powerful symbiosis.

Things were sweaty and chaotic and just beautiful.

Yungblud is a seriously talented performer. I really hope he comes back soon. I also really hope he plays some smaller venues here again before moving on to his inevitable selling out of arenas and stadiums he had in his very near future.

Thank you to the artists and their teams and MRG Concerts, the promoter, for having us out for such a lovely night.
