Live Review: Jack’s Mannequin + Illuminati Hottie @ The Vogue Theatre, Vancouver – November 18th 2025

The night at the Vogue Theatre felt alive from the very first note.

Illuminati Hotties opened the show with a burst of energy that rolled through the room like a tidal wave. The Los Angeles four piece wasted no time pulling the crowd into their orbit. Sarah Tudzin danced across the stage with a carefree confidence, pumping her fist in the air while delivering emphatic lyrics with a bright and biting edge. The lighting for their set stayed on the darker side, but it somehow worked in their favor. It made their movement somehow mysterious and intriguing. It pushed the focus toward the way they played and the way they connected with everyone in the room.

The drummer hammered away with a joyful ferocity that set the pace for the entire set. The beat lifted the crowd right out of their seats and into a steady sway that quickly grew into a full room groove. It was easy to tell the band was genuinely happy to be in Vancouver. They said it plainly on stage, but you could feel it more in how they performed. Their set built the perfect foundation for the night. The audience was warmed up, smiling, and ready.

When Jack’s Mannequin took the stage, the room erupted. Andrew McMahon walked out to a wave of cheers and immediately reminded everyone why this project still carries so much weight after more than twenty years. This tour is a celebration of Jack’s Mannequin and everything it has meant to fans since the early 2000s, and the show felt like a tribute to that entire legacy.

The stage setup was far beyond what you would expect in a small theatre. Giant box lights framed the band. Video boards stretched across the back wall. Every song was paired with visuals that expanded the emotion of the music. It had the scale of an arena show while keeping the intimacy of the Vogue.

McMahon placed himself right at the center behind his piano, drenched in spotlights that made him look possessed by the music. He put his entire body into every vocal line. He leaned over the keys like he was trying to pull the sound directly out of the instrument. The rest of the band filled the room with thick layers of bass, drums, and guitar that blended smoothly with McMahon’s melodic piano lines.

The crowd stayed locked in from the start. Even during the quieter moments, the theatre fell silent. People were not chatting or rustling around. Everyone watched him with full attention. That is the mark of an artist who has earned his audience’s respect over decades.

The setlist was stacked. Holiday From Real, Crashin, The Mixed Tape, Amy I, Miss Delaney, The Resolution. Fans sang along at full volume. Swim hit like a wave of nostalgia. MFEO was one of the emotional peaks of the night. I’m Ready brought the energy back up. Hammers and Strings landed with a softness that filled the venue in a different way. Bruised and La La Lie closed the main set on a high.

The encore started with Restless Dream performed acoustic. It was a quiet moment that held the room still. Into the Airwaves and Dark Blue wrapped everything up with a final surge of energy that felt earned and heartfelt.

From start to finish, the night was a reminder of why Jack’s Mannequin has held such a firm place in the hearts of fans for so long. The show looked incredible, sounded rich, and carried a real sense of celebration. Illuminati Hotties lit the fuse. Andrew McMahon and his band turned it into a full fire. Vancouver showed up with open arms, and the result was a night packed with passion, memory, and musicianship.
