Queens Of The Stone Age Announce Ninth Album “Perfecth”

Queens Of The Stone Age have detailed their ninth studio album, Perfecth, arriving October 30th through Matador Records.

The nine-track record is the follow-up to 2023’s In Times New Roman… and promises another fearless journey through the dark, sexual, surreal and absurd corners that have always made the band impossible to mistake for anyone else.

The announcement arrives alongside “Insignificant Other,” the second song released from Perfecth following “Easy Street,” the band’s recent collaboration with Nikki Lane.

Frontman Joshua Homme describes “Insignificant Other” as a song about distance and the disorienting experience of watching someone who once occupied your entire world suddenly disappear.

The recording captures Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita and Jon Theodore playing together with a deliberately loose and unguarded energy. The released performance was only the second complete take, preserving the musicians responding to one another in real time.

Homme and Shuman produced Perfecth, with recording sessions taking place in several locations between New Orleans and Los Angeles.

The album draws inspiration from kintsugi, the Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery with gold. Rather than attempting to conceal damage, the technique treats every crack as part of an object’s history and makes the act of repair visible.

That philosophy sits at the centre of Perfecth. Its songs examine different forms of love, including family, friendship, lust and relationships with people both significant and insignificant. It considers the love that can destroy someone and the love capable of putting that person back together.

“Every song sounds like it’s from a different world,” Homme explained. “And that’s on purpose, because it’s trying to stitch together all these emotions revolving around love, lust, foolishness, and the sort of wisdom that comes as a gift from all that.”

The intentionally misspelled title also reflects the album’s distrust of perfection.

According to Homme, the word “perfect” has never been truthful because actual perfection does not exist. Breaking the word and rebuilding it as “perfecth” transforms it into something more appropriate: strange, damaged and honest about its own impossibility.

The album announcement is accompanied by a video directed by Chapman Baehler and starring Big Chongus as the physical embodiment of “perfecth.” The search for Big Chongus’ ideal home also features Ruby Homme, Max Homme, Pumpkin Van Leeuwen, Isabella “Izzy” Puppolini Van Leeuwen and Reesa Shuman.

Perfecth will be available digitally, on CD and on standard black vinyl. Independent retailers will carry an exclusive clear vinyl pressing.

A limited deluxe gatefold edition will include handwritten lyrics, stationery, stamps housed inside a custom envelope and a bespoke piece of art placed inside a dedicated pocket. The deluxe version will be exclusive to the Queens Of The Stone Age and Matador webstores.

Queens Of The Stone Age will return to the road in September, joining Foo Fighters for several North American stadium shows before travelling through Iceland, Japan, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. Additional headline dates for 2027 will be announced in the coming weeks.

Perfecth arrives October 30th through Matador Records.
