Jorja Smith Shares New Single “I Lied, You Lied” Ahead Of New Album What Are The Odds

Jorja Smith has released her new single “I Lied, You Lied,” offering one final preview of her forthcoming third studio album, What Are The Odds.

The album arrives August 21 through FAMM and opens a confident new chapter for the acclaimed British singer-songwriter.

“I Lied, You Lied” examines a relationship trapped in a cycle of attraction, dishonesty and emotional exhaustion. Smith captures the difficult moment when affection is no longer enough to justify remaining in something unhealthy. There is vulnerability in her delivery, but also clarity as she recognizes the manipulation around her and finds the strength to walk away.

Co-produced by P2J and Marco Bernardis, the single surrounds Smith’s voice with electronic programming, piano and saxophone. The production is polished without becoming crowded, leaving plenty of space for her restrained delivery and emotionally direct storytelling.

The new album finds Smith expanding her sound through elements of UK garage, grime, 2-step, UK funky and house music. Created independently alongside P2J, What Are The Odds retains the intimacy that has always defined her songwriting while giving her room to explore a more rhythmic and adventurous musical landscape.

The album arrives during a landmark year for Smith, marking a decade since “Blue Lights” first introduced her voice to listeners. She has since developed into one of the United Kingdom’s most distinctive contemporary artists, moving comfortably between R&B, soul, jazz and electronic music without allowing any single genre to completely define her.

Smith recently appeared as the special guest across all six of Harry Styles’ Mexico City concerts at Estadio GNP Seguros. She will celebrate the album’s arrival by co-headlining All Points East with Tems at London’s Victoria Park on August 21.

That carefully curated event will also feature Nia Archives, Ayra Starr, Westside Gunn, Uncle Waffles, DJ EZ, Odeal, kwn, Maverick Sabre and Katy B, alongside a special performance from Elmiene and The Sunday Service Choir.

Smith will continue supporting the record with live performances later this year, including a November 18 appearance at Toronto’s Massey Hall.

What Are The Odds is available August 21.
